Liam & Afton // Nevada Adventure Session

Liam and Afton are fellow wedding photographers who are based in the Canadian Rockies. I have been following them on Instagram for quite a while and I have always admired their work. Their feed is the perfect mix of epic mountain backgrounds with intimate moments that I just love. All of that to say, when they posted that they were looking for an engagement photographer, I sent them a message saying I’d love the opportunity to take their photos. Afton messaged me back and throughout our conversation, she told me that they felt the same way about my photography as I felt about theirs and they eventually ended up booking this Springfield wedding photographer to take their engagement photos.

Afton and Liam live in the lush mountains of Alberta, but they wanted to do something completely opposite for their session. They decided on the Nevada desert for their photos and I was absolutely on board! On the day of their shoot, we headed to Valley of Fire State Park to get some photos at sunset. Valley of Fire State Park is home to a variety of majestic rock formations and an abundance of gorgeous red rocks in every direction. At the park, we wandered around exploring everything we possibly could with the time we had. The next morning we made our way to Red Rock Canyon just before sunrise to capture a different perspective. Red Rock Canyon, just outside of Las Vegas, is a large canyon with giant mountainous walls. (Although, funnily enough, there are fewer ‘red rocks’ here than there are at Valley of Fire.) Red Rock Canyon is also a major rock climbing destination, and that’s a huge reason why Afton and Liam chose it as one of their photo destinations. After we took some shots in their dressy outfits, we ended their session with some rock climbing. I had such a fun time capturing Afton and Liam in their element. I love the fact that these two made their engagement photos a perfect representation of who they are. The mix of beautiful scenery and a mutually loved hobby made their adventure session so personal and unforgettable. Thank you Liam and Afton for such an amazing adventure session!
